In this portable first-person shooter, you play the role of a special forces operative who has to stop terrorists from detonating a nuclear weapon. Your travels take you to various locations in Russia and the Middle East, where you'll unleash a wide variety of realistic weapons against the bad guys who constantly appear as you make your way through each 3D environment.

Developed by n-Space, Call of Duty: World at War brings the action back to World War II, presenting a look at the Pacific Theater as opposed to simply focusing on Europe. The gameplay in World at War is a step-up from its predecessor, offering cleaned up gameplay, a pretty robust and intense campaign, and solid controls. While there are a few problems, World at War is definitely an improvement, and a worthy FPS for DS gamers.

The game does a pretty good job of emulating the mission structure and overall feel of the console version. The game’s campaign is robust, taking you through the Pacific Theater and a Russian campaign in Russia and Europe. The main campaign is actually of a pretty decent length for a DS title, rivaling the length of the console game and features some intense moments.

Ontwikkelaar n-Space slaagt er bijzonder goed in om het Call of Duty-concept bijna volledig op de Nintendo DS neer te zetten. In de first-person shooter zijn alle aspecten die je minimaal in het genre zou verwachten, aanwezig. Je kunt vrij om je heen kijken, verschillende wapens en granaten gebruiken, nauwkeuriger mikken middels iron sights en je vijanden sneller doden door headshots te maken. De opbouw van de missies is kenmerkend voor Call of Duty: je moet basissen infiltreren, gebouwen beschermen en belangrijke informatie ontfutselen. Meestal heb je een aantal teamgenoten aan je zij die meevuren, maar vooral handig de weg wijzen en je herinneren aan je missiedoelen.
