The Everly Brothers
Collectie 1958-2013

The Everly Brothers, bestaande uit Isaac Donald ("Don") 
Everly (Brownie, Kentucky 1 februari 1937) en Philip ("Phil") 
Everly (Chicago, Illinois, 19 januari 1939), vormen een zang-
duo, dat het grootste succes had in de jaren vijftig en zestig 
van de vorige eeuw. The Everly Brothers zijn behalve door 
rock-'n-roll beïnvloed door popmuziek en country. The Everly 
Brothers zijn vooral bekend geworden door de samenhangende 
harmonieuze zangpartijen. Hun carrière kwam echter niet meer 
tot bloei, en in juli 1973 gingen de twee broers hun eigen weg. 
Ze brachten enkele soloplaten uit, zonder succes. In 1983 
kwamen de broers weer bij elkaar. Ze gaven concerten in de 
Royal Albert Hall, bijgestaan door onder andere gitarist Albert 
Lee. Het jaar daarop kwam een nieuw studio-album uit, EB 84, 
geproduceerd door Dave Edmunds. Paul McCartney schreef 
voor de broers de hit "On the Wings of a Nightingale". Het 
succes zette niet door op de volgende albums, en vanaf 1988 
zijn er geen nieuwe albums van de Everly Brothers uitgekomen. 
De broers werken wel aan verschillende albums mee. Zo zingen 
zij in 1986 de backing vocals in van de song 'Graceland' van 
het gelijknamig album van Paul Simon.Tegenwoordig treden 
de broers niet meer op.
