De huurmoordenaar Asher, die vroeger werkzaam was bij de Mossad, leeft een sober bestaan in Brooklyn waar hij het einde van zijn carrière en van zijn leven voelt naderen. Tijdens een laatste klus, die helemaal misloopt, ontmoet hij Sophie. Door deze ontmoeting voelt Asher zich genoodzaakt zijn gelofte die hij als jongeman deed, te verbreken. In een laatste poging om de man te worden die hij altijd al had willen zijn, zit er niets anders op dan zijn vroegere ik de rug toe te keren.
