Hier weer een stuk nostalgie.
The Andrews Sisters was een Amerikaans trio van drie zingende zusjes: LaVerne Andrews (contralto; 6 juli 1911 - 8 mei 1967), Maxene Andrews (hoge harmonie; 3 januari 1916 - 21 oktober 1995) en Patti Andrews (hoofdzang; geboren 6 februari 1918). Alle drie werden in Mound (Minnesota) in de Verenigde Staten geboren.
De zussen begonnen hun zangcarrière als imitators van de Boswell Sisters. Na verschillende tournees werden ze in 1937 ontdekt. Hun muziek werd tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog veel voor de troepen gespeeld en de zussen verschenen in vele films, die ter motivatie van de soldaten werden gemaakt. In deze periode namen ze veel liedjes op met Bing Crosby. Hun populariteit was dusdanig groot dat na de oorlog werd ontdekt dat voor de Duitse troepen bootlegs waren gemaakt.
Na een korte pauze na de oorlog begonnen de zussen opnieuw en toerden veel door de Verenigde Staten en Europa. In september 1966 traden ze voor het laatst op in The Dean Martin Show. Laverne, die kanker had, overleed spoedig daarna. De twee overgebleven zussen hebben nog een cover van "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" met Bette Midler opgenomen. In Nederland zijn ze gecoverd door The Star Sisters in het Stars on 45-project.
